How this happened
There are plenty of coffeeshops fuelling small towns, neighborhoods and coffee lovers all around Europe. Not all of them need the spotlight but they do deserve it. All the people that I invited to recommend places for this list have gone above and beyond to understand specialty coffee and create their very unique techniques in craft, business and research to further our industry.
This is a collection from 5 roasters sophisticating about the craft,
3 barista legends that love mixing coffee cocktails,
6 coffee brewing nerds,
3 amateur coffee scholars that are studying coffee species outside of arabica,
4 team leaders that run cafés,
3 creators that bring the most style and aesthetics to coffee content,

and all 13 of us are happy to share the work of people bringing life and likability to this beverage and industry.
This collection includes
the best local coffee shops recommended by experts I trust and admire. We all know that the ones claiming they're the best in the world are never the even the most liked coffeeshop in their city. That’s why we bring together this list of truly appreciated spaces by coffee professionals with different backgrounds and personal preferences.
I did not curate this list at all.
Only requirement: the coffeeshop (or other coffeeshops from the same company) cannot be on the 100best shortlist because that ranking is obnoxiously skewed and this collection here showcases lovely coffeshops that don’t participate in this (at the moment of publishing).
Every company only has one location mentioned. You will find their websites or social media accounts tied to the google maps link for sure.
Food for thought: geographical imbalance in our collection is as influenced by the geographical imbalances in the 100best list as it is by the experts involved. Some major hubs of specialty coffee like Zürich, Berlin, Prague, Bucharest have most of their coffeeshops competing for spots in that questionable ranking while others - like Paris - have plenty of specialty coffee shops that do not seem to care.
